Are prophets needed and functioning on the earth today?

Different churches have different answers to that significant question. For Catholics and Protestants the answer is "No." But the Mormons--members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--believe the answer is "Yes," and claim that modern-day prophets have been called of God to guide their church today. This talk examines the scriptural basis for their belief. It explains the unchangeable nature of God and shows that He ministered to his people in both Old Testament and New Testament times. It tells how the Bible prophesies of future prophets who will minister in the last days, and reasons that God's church today should be led by prophets. The speaker goes further, showing that the existence and acceptance of prophets is a test by which one may identify the true Church of Jesus Christ today. He also focuses on the need for authority, showing from the scriptures that true priesthood authority is necessary for men to perform ordinances which are acceptable to God, and that these ordinances are essential for salvation. He builds a strong scriptural case which cannot be ignored by sincere seekers after religious truth.
