Richard E. Turley Jr. serves as managing director of the Family and Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

His book Victims: The LDS Church and the Mark Hofmann Case is an oft-cited history of the famous Hofmann forgery-murder case of the 1980s. With coauthor Lael Littke, he has recently published a children’s book, Stories from the Life of Joseph Smith.

He and his wife, Shirley, are the parents of six children and the grandparents of two.
